The name of the Society is “Bangladesh Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology” (BDSCCP). The Society was founded in 2009 and is registered under the Societies Registration Act. in 2013. The aims of the society are:
- To raise awareness about the importance of cervical cancer screening and to facilitate the dissemination of information about colposcopy to the general public.
- To provide professional advice concerning the practice of colposcopy, screening for cervical pre-cancer and cancer and management of precancerous conditions of the cervix and lower genital tract.
- To provide a forum for education and communication and improvement of knowledge related to the use of colposcopy, cervical pathology and epidemiology.
- Co-operate with other similar associations, both nationality and internationally, for furthering the objects for which the society is being established.
