BANGLADESH SOCIETY OF COLPOSCOPY AND CERVICAL PATHOLOGY (BDSCCP)
A meeting regarding the formation of the Bangladesh Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology was held on December 15, 2009, at 1:00 pm in the classroom of the Department of obstetric & Gynaecology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. Total Participants in the meeting were forty. The participant included the Chairman of the Dept. of Pathology and Colposcopist from Dhaka. The participants from the Dept. of Pathology were four in number. The participants from Dhaka were from BSMMU, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Khaleda Zia Medical College Hospital, Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, BIRDEM, National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital and from other institutes and hospitals (total twenty-nine participants). Other participants were from outside Dhaka. One participant was from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, two from Khulna Medical College Hospital, one from Chittagong Medical College Hospital, two from Sylhet MAG Medical College Hospital and one from Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (total Seven). The meeting was chaired by Prof. Sabera Khatun. All the members agreed that the name of the society should be” Bangladesh Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology “(BDSCCP). Therefore BDSCCP was developed for quality control of these highly specialized services and our society received Government registration in the year 2013. BDSCCP earned membership in IFCPC in July 2016. To prevent cervical cancer, BDSCCP is taking active steps to help the government by awareness creation through different ways like the celebration of “cervical and Breast Cancer Prevention Week”. The society also involved in the training of Doctors from private organizations and develop an efficient screening program. BDSCCP is trying to develop Colposcopy Clinic at the private level and helping the Government indirectly through standardization of colposcopy clinic and introducing ‘Logbook’ in the training programmed. BDSCCP is also participating in the awareness creation programmed.
